Flood Warning: Groundwater flooding in Kings Somborne and Little Somborne

Groundwater levels in Kings Somborne and Little Somborne are high but have fallen 18cm in the last week. During that time, 9mm of rainfall was recorded at the rain gauge in Broughton. Cellar flooding to a small number of properties in Kings Somborne and Little Somborne, and road flooding impacts are expected to be ongoing. From today (09/05/2024) to Saturday (11/05/2024), the weather is expected to be dry. A little rainfall, approximately 5mm, is forecast on both Sunday (12/05/2024) and on Monday (13/05/2024). We expect groundwater levels to continue to slowly fall over the next week. If levels fall at the same rate as this week, then it is possible we will remove this flood alert next week. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. If you have pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure that they are operational.
