Groundwater levels are high and relatively stable after a month’s rain (59mm) has been recorded at Bishops Sutton in the last week. At Preston Candover, the level is 7cm lower than this time last week. At Old Alresford the level is 12cm lower. Cellar flooding is expected to be affecting properties in the Candovers, Northington, and Old Alresford. In Old Alresford, internal ground floor flooding is affecting isolated properties. Septic tanks will be struggling to operate effectively in all locations. From today (02/05/2024) to Monday (06/05/2024), further spells of rain, some of which may be heavy, are forecast in Hampshire with between 10 and 50mm possible during this time. Groundwater levels are expected to remain relatively stable or could even rise slightly. However, they are expected to begin slowly falling again within the next week. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. If you have pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure that they are operating. This Flood Alert will be updated by 18:00 on Thursday (09/05/2024).
