Flood Warning 033WAF317River Churnet and River TeanWarning added: 10:27, 16th January 2021 River levels are still forecast to rise at the Leek and Basford Bridge river gauges as a result of rainfall today Saturday 16 January 2021. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected this afternoon. Flooding will affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Churnet between Leek and Rocester and the River Tean between Adderley and Spath including Cecilly Brook at Cheadle. The rest of the weekend is forecast to be dry before more rain is forecast late on Monday 18 January 2021. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated later today Saturday 16 January 2021, or as the situation changes. |
