Forecast high river levels this evening may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible this evening, 26 August 2026. Areas most at risk are low-lying roads and land around the brooks in Leicester City, including recreational land where water depths could become hazardous. Areas particularly at risk include those around the Braunstone Brook, Lubbesthorpe Brook, Melton Brook, Saffron Brook, Willow Brook, Bushby Brook, Evington Brook, Thurnby Brook and Scraptoft Brook.

The forecast today has improved, however there remains a risk of heavy rainfall from thunderstorms until 22:00 this evening. Further heavy rainfall is forecast throughout Thursday, 27/08/2026, with lighter persistent rainfall through Friday, We are closely monitoring the situation & clearing debris from weed screens. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses & monitor local water levels and weather conditions. This message will be updated by 09:00 on 27 August 2026 or as the situation changes
