The water level in the Monks Brook is high and rising. In the last 6 hours, about 19mm of rainfall has been recorded in Portswood, which is a significant amount of rainfall in a short time. From 18:45 this evening, 19/10/2025, the river will rise to bankfull. It will be deep and fast flowing. The recreational ground at Fleming Park will experience flooding, and the river will be very high at Kingfisher Road. Surface water flooding in roads affecting Chandlers Ford and at Stoneham Way from Chestnut Way to the M27 is also possible. Further heavy rain will continue over the next hour. Our operational staff will keep the river free of reported blockages in Chandlers Ford and Eastleigh. We continue to monitor the forecast. Residents should remain vigilant, especially in Chandlers Ford, where culverts and debris screens in the river can block quickly. Please report blockages to our incident hotline on 0800 807060.
