River levels remain high following Tuesday’s rain, and this may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible throughout the remainder of Wednesday and overnight into Thursday.
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Yeo, River Parrett, Kings Sedgemoor Drain and River Sowy, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected particularly around the road at the south end of Westover Trading Estate which floods to an unknown depth. There is also a risk of flooding to properties at Westover Trading Estate at Langport.
The Rivers Yeo and Parrett are currently bank-full with spillways running. Further rain and unsettled conditions are forecast for the coming days and rivers are expected to respond to this. We continue to monitor rainfall and river levels closely and Field Teams are out clearing debris screens and checking rivers for blockages.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses, and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 11:00AM on the 22nd January 2026, or as the situation changes.
