Due to recent rainfall and to further rain expected from this evening into tomorrow Friday 19/09/2025, river levels are forecast to rise and may lead to flooding of low-lying land. Further rainfall is expected throughout the weekend. Areas most at risk include Rivers Caldew and Petteril from the Lakeland Fells to Carlisle including Greystoke, Newton Reigny, Plumpton, Stockdalewath, Sebergham and Denton Holme in Carlisle.

Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Refer to local authority website for road closures.

We are closely monitoring rainfall and river levels, clearing debris from weed screens and closing locks and floodgates where needed.
