Flood Warning: River Soar at Leicester Abbey Meadows

Rising river levels are expected to cause flooding this evening. 

Flooding is expected on 28 February 2026 from approximately 9PM. 

Areas most at risk are Loughborough Road, Day Street, Palmer Street, Thurcaston Road, Wesley Street, Beaumanor Road, Carnation Street, Corporation Road, Rose Street, Anchor Street and Abbey Lane. Leicester Abbey Meadows and properties close to Thurcaston Road, the A6 Abbey Lane and the National Space Centre. Light rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. River levels at Freemans Weir Gauge will rise until approximately midnight tonight, 28/02/2026. Levels will remain high until tomorrow afternoon, 01/03/2026.
