Flood Warning 034WAF419
River Devon and Smite in Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire
Warning added: 09:51, 16th January 2021
River levels are rising at the Colston Bassett river gauge following heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland remains possible. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads along the River Smite. Church Gate and Bunnison Lane in Colston Bassett could be impassable, with potentially dangerous depths of flood water. Areas around the River Devon could also be affected at Easthorpe, Bottesford, Belvoir Lane and the Woolsthorpe to Belvoir road in Woolsthorpe, Church Lane and Main Street in Muston. We expect river levels to remain high today, 16/01/21. Rainfall continues this morning and then is forecast to be drier. Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. We are closely monitoring the situation. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 17/01/21, or as the situation changes.
