High tides, strong winds and large waves this evening may lead to flooding.

Flooding is possible between 6pm and 8pm tonight, 1st January and between 4:30am and 6:30am tomorrow, 2nd January.

We expect high tide levels at Gorleston-on-Sea and water on towpaths and quaysides throughout Great Yarmouth. The detailed forecast is for a peak level at Great Yarmouth of 1.93mAODN at 7pm, on Thursday 1 January 2026, which is 1.12m above tide tables, Wind Force 8, North Westerly. Additional Flood Alert with peak level at Great Yarmouth of 2.01mAODN at 5:30am, on Friday 2 January 2026, which is 1.19m above tide tables, Wind Force 6, North Westerly. The low pressure system across the North Sea will continue to keep higher than usual tides over the next few days.

We are closely monitoring the situation .

Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and carparks, which may be flooded .

This message will be updated by 10:00AM on 02 January 2026 or as the situation changes.
