High tides on Friday may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible for 2 hours either side of Friday's early morning tide at 03:00 on 09/01/2026.
Storm Goretti increases tide table values by 0.78 m. Total forecast tide is 5.32 metres Chart Datum (2.58 mAOD) at Chichester Harbour. Gale Force 8 North Westerly wind. Strong winds and large waves may push the tide to the top of the beach at Bracklesham, with possibility of water flowing into ditches behind. Spray will affect beach top properties at the end of West Sands Lane and Medmerry. Friday's tide at 15:15 09/01/2026 is forecast to be 94 cm lower (1.64 mAOD). Tides will continue to fall as we approach neap tides. Provided the beach remains in good condition, flood risk will reduce.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Don't put yourself or others at risk . Avoid Medmerry sea front at high tide. Stormy seas are dangerous.
This message will be updated by 3:00PM on 09 January 2026 or as the situation changes.
