River levels remain high following Tuesday’s rain, and this may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible throughout the remainder of Wednesday and overnight into Thursday.

Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Brue and River Sheppey, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around the B3151 Glastonbury to Meare Road. Overtopping is forecast from the Glastonbury Millstream and the River Brue at North Drain and Westhay. The River Brue is forecast to be bankfull upstream of Bruton Dam with field flooding likely.

Further rain and unsettled conditions are forecast for the coming days and rivers are expected to respond to this. We continue to monitor rainfall and river levels closely, and Field Teams are out clearing debris screens and checking rivers for blockages.

Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses, and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 11:00AM on the 22nd January 2026, or as the situation changes.
