High tides over the next two days may lead to flooding.

Flooding is possible 2 hours either side of high tide on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

Areas particularly at risk include exposed coastal areas of Plymouth Sound, including Cawsand, Kingsand and The Hoe.

High tide at Plymouth is at 7:36pm on Wednesday evening and 7:48am on Thursday morning. Times of high water will vary along the coast. Forecast total high tide level is 2.72mAOD and 2.8mAOD respectively. Expect tide levels along the coast to be up to 0.7m above tide table level. Strong force 5 south south westerly winds and offshore wave heights up to 3.2m are forecast over the high tides.

Further alerts and warnings may be issued through the week.

We are closely monitoring the situation .

Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and carparks, which may be flooded .

This message will be updated by 3:00PM on 22 January 2026 or as the situation changes.
