Flood Warning: River Trent in Derbyshire

River levels are falling slowly but the risk of flooding remains. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including Willington, Barrow upon Trent, Swarkestone, Bargate Lane and the access roads to Willington Meadows, the Twyford Village access road, Church Lane at Barrow, and Ingleby Lane. Showers are forecast over the next 48 hours. River levels at Willington and Shardlow Gauge are likely to remain elevated over the weekend. We are closely monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. This message will be updated by 10:00 tomorrow, 01/02/2026, or as the situation changes.
