Flood Warning: Groundwater flooding for the South Winterbourne Valley

High groundwater levels are expected to cause flooding. 

Flooding is expected from 20th December 2025 onwards 

Groundwater levels in West Dorset remain high. Areas that could be affected include: Winterbourne Abbas, Winterbounre Steepleton, Martinstown, Winterborne Monkton, Winterbourne Herringston and Winterborne Came. The groundwater level at the Kingston Russell borehole has risen to 116.7m, and is expected to continue rising in next few days. Residents may experience inundation of septic tanks and sewer systems. Properties may experience flooding in cellars in affected areas. Flooding of roads is expected, Roads may be damaged by floodwater. intense rainfall will lead to surface water flooding. 

We are closely monitoring the situation . 

If you have a pump, make sure it is working and switched on. Think about alternative power sources in case of power cuts .
