High groundwater levels are still expected to cause flooding. Flooding is still expected from 30th December 2025 onwards. Groundwater levels in West Dorset remain high. Areas that could be affected include: Winterbourne Abbas, Winterbourne Steepleton, Martinstown, Winterbourne Monkton, Winterbourne Herringston and Winterbourne Came. The groundwater level at the Kingston Russell borehole has fallen to 117.88m, and is expected to fall further over the next few days. Residents may experience inundation of septic tanks and sewer systems. Properties may experience flooding in cellars in affected areas. Flooding of roads is expected. Roads may be damaged by floodwater. Any intense rainfall will lead to surface water flooding. We are closely monitoring the situation. If you have a pump, make sure it is working and switched on. Think about alternative power sources in case of power cuts. This message will be updated by 3:00PM on 6 January 2026, or as the situation changes.
