Groundwater levels remain high and are rising very slowly at our Water Acre observation borehole. Groundwater levels are above normal for this time of year and will be sensitive to further rainfall. Flooding of low-lying land and roads is possible. Due to the nature of groundwater behaviour, levels could remain high for several weeks or longer. Should groundwater levels increase further, property flooding is possible in the longer term. We are closely monitoring the situation. The weather forecast for this week (from 26/01/20) is for rain and showers on Monday and Tuesday, becoming drier through the week. Our weekly groundwater briefing note can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/thames-west-area-groundwater-situation.
We continue to monitor groundwater levels and will update this message on Friday 31/01/2020.
