River Derwent

Warning added: 09:40, 20th February 2020

no adsremove ads

This flood alert remains in force as river levels remain high as a result of recent heavy rainfall. Flooding of roads and farmland is possible. Levels on the Lower River Derwent, particularly around Buttercrambe, Stamford Bridge and Elvington will remain high through Thursday morning 20/2/2020. Further rain is forecast for the next few days but this is not expected to significantly increase river levels. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded. Please see the gov.uk website for up to date river levels. Our Incident Room is open and we are monitoring the situation closely. We will update this message in 8 hours or as the situation changes.
