Flood Warning: Upper Ouse
Message Last Updated:
Severity Last Changed: The River Ouse is high and rising in Barcombe, following Wednesday's rain. Flood impacts will continue to affect the Anchor Inn, Anchor Lane, Barcombe Mills road, and gardens of isolated properties at Barcombe Mills. Between Ardingly and Sharpsbridge, river levels are high, but have started to fall. Minor flood impacts will continue to affect fields, gardens, and near Bridge Cottage on the B2028, properties on Sloop Lane, and roads at Fletching Mill Bridge and Sharpsbridge. Only small amounts of rain are forecast each of the next five days, which should not increase flood risk significantly. At Barcombe, river levels should begin to fall by 14:00 22/01/2026. In all other communities, river levels should generally continue to fall. There may be small river rises following rainfall, but we do not expect river levels to rise higher than they have been recently. We are closely operating structures at Pimms Lock and Barcombe to reduce flood risk. Don't put yourself or others at risk, avoid roads that flood, including Barcombe Mills Road. This message will be updated by 15:00 23/01/2026. |
