Flood Warning: Cuckmere River

River levels remain higher than normal in Hellingly and Alfriston, but are falling following Friday's rain. Minor flood impacts affecting fields could continue through Sunday. Light rain is forecast for much of Sunday 07/12/2025. A small river rise is probable Sunday afternoon. Water levels will not rise as high as they were on Saturday, and should begin to fall by the early hours of Monday. Less rain is forecast Monday. River levels should return nearer to normal by Monday evening. However another band of rain in the early hours of Tuesday will likely increase flood risk again. We are closely monitoring the situation. Don't put yourself or others at risk. Avoid roads that flood (Mill Lane and Church Road Hellingly, North Street Alfriston).
