Flood Warning: River Yeo and Parrett, Upper Reaches

Rising river levels this evening may lead to flooding. 

Flooding is possible on 05 December 2025 . Flooding may also be possible overnight into Saturday. 

The River Yeo is rising at Pen Mill gauge and is currently forecast to reach the Flood Alert level overnight at approximately 1:00AM. There is some uncertainty over this, therefore this Alert is precautionary. Flooding may affect low lying land and roads near the River Yeo, River Parrett and River Cary, particularly around the Ilchester to Yeovilton road at the end of the runway. Showers are forecast on Saturday followed by another band of rain on Sunday. On Monday night into Tuesday, another heavy rain front is forecast, which could bring further flooding impacts. 

We are monitoring rainfall and river levels . We are checking defences and clearing bridges, culverts and screens. 

Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water . Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.
